That little voice..

All it takes is a small blow to your confidence, a halt in your progress, a plateau that you just can’t seem to break and suddenly you can do NO right. That little voice in your head is telling you “I’ve worked so hard and I just can’t budge from this point – it’s SO frustrating – I might as well just pack it in?”.

Self-talk can be the make or break of you achieving your goal. It can DEFINITELY halt your progress and even set you backwards.

Your mind is much stronger than your body. What you tell yourself is exactly what you will achieve.

If you tell yourself you CAN’T do it – you’re right!
If you tell yourself you CAN do it – you’re right!

Positive self-talk is what will get you through those times however it has to be louder and more aggressive than that pain-in-the-rear negative voice - very loud, very aggressive and very persistent!

Every time you hear that little voice say something negative it MUST be switched to a positive EVERY SINGLE TIME .. you need to train your mind to think positive – and that means addressing every negative thought that pops into your head – it must be squashed and replaced with a positive thought.

Another thing I believe is important to the mental process is to be OK with failure. It will happen to all of us at some point when we are setting high goals for ourselves. I’m here to tell you it’s OK to fail - as long as you GET BACK UP AGAIN, learn from it and surge forward.

The chances of you achieving your goal by quitting after a failure … are NIL!!

Remember this… failure is not a reason to quit, it’s an opportunity to learn, evolve and improve.

So trust the process, learn from your setbacks and eventually you WILL achieve your goal.

QUITTING IS NOT AN OPTION

QUITTING IS NOT AN OPTION

Suddenly its 6 weeks out from your show and the fatigue is setting in .. things are starting to hurt that never did before and you start to wonder “if I’m feeling like this now, how will I ever make it to the show - maybe I’m not cut out for this!”

It has come to the business end of your prep - when changes are starting to happen, you’re feeling exhausted, fatigued, foggy and you just want to rest!

This happens without fail at the 6 week mark – I have yet to see a woman not go through this. Well, I’m here to tell you, it’s normal to want to quit at this point – your body is drawing on its reserves, this is when your mental stamina is called upon – YOU CAN ALWAYS QUIT!! – the question is, is that what you really want? The choice is yours at the end of the day. Nobody is making you do this – this was YOUR choice and you are doing it for your own reasons.

The key to getting through this point in your prep is firstly to remind yourself WHY you are doing this – keep your goal in the forefront of your mind and keep reminding yourself of it, if you have to write it down and put it on your fridge then so be it – whatever it takes to keep your mind on your goal. Secondly you must live in the NOW and not in the future.

Concentrate on getting through today and tomorrow will take care of itself. Your job in this venture is to TRUST THE PROCESS – follow your comp prep plan with 100% compliance and leave the rest to your coach – that’s what they are there for. Your job is to do as you are instructed – their job is make the decisions and worry about everything else!

So, take your mind off the future and put it squarely into the RIGHT NOW!

Trust your coach!

Trust the process!
